At Experiencia Cafetera, we believe that travel should be more than just visiting a place—it should be an authentic connection with culture, nature, and people. That’s why our core value is sustainable tourism, offering immersive experiences that respect the environment and benefit local communities.
Our experiences start where coffee starts: on Don Leo’s farm, with the grower who planted the beans you’re about to drink. You walk the town with its neighbours, stop at Doña Ligia’s medicinal plant nursery and eat the lunch the host family cooks from their own garden. Groups of ten people maximum, bilingual guides, and every tour putting money in the hands of more than four local suppliers in Pijao.
We would love to hear from you.

We’re in Pijao, Quindío, 45 minutes from El Edén airport in Armenia, in the heart of the Coffee Cultural Landscape.
Here coffee isn’t explained on signboards — it’s shown by hand. Write to us and we’ll tell you which days we head out.
We didn’t start with a business plan, but with a discomfort: the most Colombian thing there is —coffee— was being poorly told and worse paid. The good coffee gets exported; Colombians are often left with the leftovers. We were born to change that, one cup at a time.
The brand took root in Buenavista, a town in southern Quindío “one block from heaven”, next to the Panorama Café Hostel. From there the heart moved to Pijao —the town of colorful doors where herons nest two blocks from the main square—, our headquarters today; operations begin at El Patio.
Our first product was the WakeCup Tour, and twelve years later it is still the one that defines us best: not a sightseeing route, but sitting at the same table as the farmer who grew your coffee. Then came Génova and its peace tour: telling, with respect and without sensationalism, how a town that endured more than fifty years of conflict is rising today.
We work through direct trade: no middlemen and no exporting, so the good coffee stays here and whoever drinks it knows who grew it. Behind every tour there are people with names —Don Leo, Carlos Arturo, Doña Ligia, El Mocho— and more than four local providers, so the money stays in the community.
Over twelve years we have been featured by media such as CNN, The Daily Beast, Culture Trip and Huck MagazineBut we don’t chase awards: word of mouth and spontaneous press are, to us, the best sign that we’re doing things right.
