What coffee tours does Experiencia Cafetera offer in the Coffee Region?
We offer five one-day tours (WakeCup Tour, Pijao's Gardens, Salento and Cocora Valley, Si Genova Peace Tour, and the Wax Palms Expedition) and multi-day routes like the Nature Plan. Three of the one-day tours share the same rate; the Wax Palms Expedition has its own rate since it's a high-mountain experience, and so does the Pijao's Gardens Tour, since it's shorter.
Pijao or Salento — which one should I choose?
They are different things. Salento and the Cocora Valley are the most visited spot in Quindío: spectacular wax palms, colonial architecture and a fair number of people. Pijao is about 45 minutes away, a town of colourful doors where tourism is not yet the main industry, and it is where we live and operate. If you want the postcard, Salento; if you want a coffee tour on a real working farm, with the family that grows it and groups of no more than 10, Pijao. Many travellers do both — we run the Salento and Cocora day trip ourselves.
How do I choose a good coffee tour in the Coffee Region?
Compare four things, and be sceptical of anyone claiming there is one best tour for everyone: whether it covers the full process (planting, picking, washing, fermentation, drying, roasting and cupping) or just a café and a tasting; whether you visit a farm that actually produces; how many people are in the group; and whether the money stays in the community. The WakeCup Tour covers the full process on a real farm, in groups of up to 10 people, and each tour involves more than four local providers in Pijao.
Can I do the tour without a car?
Yes. The meeting point is the main square of Pijao, in front of the church, and transport during the tour is included. There is public transport from Armenia to Pijao, and we can also arrange a private transfer from Armenia for COP $330,000 per vehicle, up to 4 people.
How much do the one-day tours in the Coffee Region cost?
The one-day tours cost, per person (2026 rates): from COP $292,000 in a group of 3 to 10 people; COP $435,000 private for 2; and COP $633,000 private for 1. The only exception is the Wax Palms Expedition, whose group rate is COP $350,000 per person (private rates are the same: $435,000 for 2 and $633,000 for 1). All are booked with a 50% deposit.

The WakeCup Tour is our flagship seed-to-cup coffee tour in Pijao, Quindío. If you're after deep nature, the Wax Palms Expedition climbs to a sanctuary of century-old palms at 2,400 meters above sea level; if you prefer something gentler, Salento and Cocora Valley; and if you're after history, the Si Genova Peace Tour.
