Génova sits in the south of Quindío, in the central mountain range, settled by migrants who crossed the mountains looking for land. For more than fifty years it lived through the armed conflict. Today it is a town rebuilding itself, and this tour tells that story through its own people: those who stayed, those who came back and those still growing coffee on that same land.
This is not dark tourism or a spectacle of pain. It is memory told with dignity, with guides trained to narrate the post-conflict period with respect. As a major of the High Mountain Battalion told us: “If right now my hand isn’t on a rifle while I’m talking to you, it’s because this country is changing.”
