Nature plan

An experience with the beautiful nature of the Coffee region

3 night/4 days in the coffee region. Pijao, Salento and Santa Rosa de Cabal.

DAY 1: Wakecup Tour: Coffee tour

Not a farm visit: it's understanding coffee from the inside. Six hours in Pijao with Don Leo — who grows, roasts and sells his own — on the mountain UNESCO named a Coffee Cultural Landscape. WakeCup means waking the cup up.

Wakecup Tour is a unique way to discover the colombian coffee, considered by several blogs as Colombia´s best coffee tour, this experience breaks the mold. During the day we will visit a traditional farm, you will taste the typical food of the farms and enjoy a private jeep ride like a local. We will visit a couple of families who have shown that living off coffee is possible by turning their farms into sustainable ventures. We will visit El Patio, where we will learn about medicinal plants that we use in our daily lives. This experience is for people looking for something more than the explanation “from the seed to the cup”, we will discover characters in Pijao who reveal to us that in Colombia coffee is made by a whole community: those who buy it, sell it, transport it.

Wakecup Tour is a bridge that brings travelers from all over the world with the inhabitants of the Andes to speak the same language: the coffee.

DAY 2: Bird Watching or Horseback Riding

In Quindío, the smallest department in Colombia, we are amazed every day by the richness of our land when we discover a new species.

Many of these species are known by their common or popular names: The Barranquero (Momotus momota), the Bichofue (Pitangus sulphuratus), the Pechiamarillo (Tolmomyias flaviventris). In our region, we can find 642 species to date. Just imagine the number of names!

With book in hand and binoculars, we head out before sunrise, when the birds are most active, and watch all the social interactions within the bird world. If we are sensitive and open our perception, these birds will accept us into their flock.
